Today being Friday and the first Friday that I've felt up to being out and about, off to Sanford & kidd I went. Actually, 6 of us went, which was a nice change.
I found a chair, a nice bulky 70's bar swively stool with a padded seat and back. It also has a foot rest. I took it home and proceeded to do away with the icky dark plaid tweed fabric. Now, I'm no upolsterer and I couldn't exactly figure out how to take the seat apart. Seems like they filled in nail/screw holes with wooden plugs, which look nice but discourage the taking-apart thing. Never let that stop ya!
Aside: I bought my niece a very cool stuffed elephant and I loved the fabric. It was that really soft fuzzy baby fleece. It had a white background with big flowers all over, some of which had 6 petals. (You see where that's going.) I found a bolt of it at JoAnn's. Yep, bought a yard just to have it.
Today was the day I broke it out. Covered the back and seat using a staple gun and a little hot glue for strays. Not exactly reupolstering but close enough for me. This is the chair now.
I thought about painting the wood white but decided to keep it dark. It works. The fabric pops against it better.
That's the icky plaid tweed underneath. I'm all for rockin' the 70's thing but...
The back.
It's sitting in my studio, with 2 other chairs. Oy! At east one has got to go! It's comfortable. I can lean back and put things on my lap. I think it will make a difference. And it's pretty.
