Well. Let me tell you about the gigantic new table we have in our studio space. It is GINORMOUS! Is that even a real word? Who cares. It fits.
This thing is a full 4 feet by 8 feet. Yowzah! We had to do a fair amount of serious work on it. It was really just the top and the bottom with thin plywood closing off one long and one short end.
So, we added this shelf, made of 3/4" plywood to hold all our heavy things like tool boxes and whatnot.
Then my wonderfully amazing husband built me all of these thin plywood shelves to hold all my bead containers. I took all the tops off and now they just slide in and out. So easy. So awesome. And to the left, is my work area. I can sit at my stool and fit perfectly at the tabletop.
On the other side, next to the storage shelves, is his side. We just invested in setting up a metalworking shop so he can work with copper and other metals. He has all his tools handy and when our vice arrives, it has its own spot.
After spending a solid two days reorganizing, purging, and agonizing, we think we've finally settled on a layout.
It feels great to have such a huge workspace. I can really spread things out. And I even gained surface area in my office by moving a table into it that no longer fit in the studio space. Yeah!
Slowly but surely, we'll get this open loft space tweaked just enough that it works perfectly and then we'll move and build our green straw-bale house somewhere. Until then, I need to get to work in this new space, creating jewelry and anything else my heart desires.
What does your heart desire?
